About FAB(&MD)GC
Meet the people behind our mission to build a more inclusive, equitable, and vibrant Garden City for everyone.
From Conversation to Action
For a Better (And More Diverse) Garden City was born from a simple observation: while Garden City has long been celebrated as one of America's finest planned communities, its promise of being a welcoming place for all has not always been fully realized.
Founded in 2024 by a group of concerned residents, FAB(&MD)GC began as a series of kitchen-table conversations about what it would take to make our village truly representative of the diverse world around us. Those conversations quickly grew into organized action.
Today, we operate twelve active programs ranging from diversity workshops and youth mentorship to community gardening and cultural celebrations. Our work is guided by the belief that a garden is most beautiful when it blooms with variety — and that Garden City's greatest days lie ahead, not behind.
"We don't just want to change the conversation about diversity in Garden City — we want to change the reality."
— Dr. Angela Harrison, Board Chair
